Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Seminar (8 hrs)
This is the required seminar for those pursuing certification to qualify as CDP/Certified Dementia Practitioner or for those who just want to enhance their dementia education. In this informative and interactive curriculum, you'll be provided a fundamental education on Alzheimer’s disease and dementia care services.
Course Goals and Objectives
To provide fundamental education on dementia and dementia care.
To enhance the quality of life of dementia patients through educating care providers.
To foster sensitivity and respect for the dementia client.
To teach communication techniques.
To provide sensitive approaches for assisting patients with activities of daily living.
Participants will
Walk away with an understanding of dementia.
Identify common causes of aggressive, repetitive and sun-downing behaviors in older adults.
Describe behavioral/care interventions that may be used to prevent, reduce or eliminate difficult care situations.
Describe challenges related to caregiver stress and utilize stress reduction techniques.
Learn alternative activity interventions that are success oriented and failure free.
Know how to successfully communicate with persons living with dementia to alleviate frustration for all parties.
